The Flomaton Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball teams played at W.S Neal in Brewton on Monday, February 16. The Junior Varsity played Neal at four o’clock and the varsity played Opp at six.

The weather was wonderful until the sun finally set and the wind pick up. The wind made it extremely cold, but the game still went on. This year the varsity baseball team is a really young team. Tuesday the infield included Dalton Kent 8th grader, Alex Cash 8th grader, Evan Tatum 9th grader, Hayden Hammond 11th grader, and Andrew Cash 12th grader. Despite the age difference in this team the Canes showed great potential.

9th grader, Jared Gibbs, hit outstandingly at Tuesday’s game and Hayden Hammond’s pitching was highlights of the game. The potential in this team is outstanding, although the Canes did lose to Opp 2-6.

Despite the young age I cannot wait to see what else is in store for the Canes and this upcoming baseball season. The next games for the Canes includes the County Tournament at W.S Neal on February 22nd, 25th and the 26th. Come out to Hurricane Park and support this great team!
