On Friday, November 22nd, the Flomaton Hurricanes Varsity Football team will face off against the T.R. Miller Tigers in the third round of the AHSAA Super 7 Football Championships.

This has been a great season for the Flomaton Hurricanes as they have won 11 out of 12 games so far. Last Friday, November 16th, the team played against the Saint James Trojans in the second round of the playoffs and won with a score of 20-19. Saint James had traveled from Montgomery, AL to compete against the Flomaton Hurricanes. Before that, the Hurricanes defeated the Opp Bobcats in the first round.

T.R. Miller also competed against a Montgomery high school during the second round as they traveled to Montgomery Academy and defeated the Eagles with a score of 21 to 14.

The second round of the playoffs was not just a regular win for the Flomaton Hurricanes, it also was Coach Doug Vickery’s 100th win for Flomaton High School. Coach Vickery started coaching at Flomaton High School in 2006.

Previously, the Hurricanes had defeated the T.R. Miller Tigers in the regular season with a score of 20 to 12. This game pushed the Hurricanes to become the 3A Region 1 Champions (which you can read more about here).

The third round of the playoffs will be held at the Flomaton High School Football Stadium at 7PM. The winner of this round will continue on to compete against the winner of the game between Gordo High School and Mobile Christian School.

Tensions will be high and the rivalry will be as well. The price of admission to the game on Friday will be $8. Everyone is encouraged to come support the Hurricanes. If this game is anything similar to last week’s game, it will surely be one to remember.
