On Friday, our football team became the regional champions for the first time in 25 years. The Flomaton football team played against T.R. Miller at their school in Brewton. The final score of the game was FHS 20 – TRM 12.

This was a tremendous accomplishment that was last achieved in 1994 when some familiar faces of our school participated in the game such as then starting quarterback, George “Bubba” Brown, who is now the Flomaton Elementary School Principal. Notable football players during that game were Leroy Steele and Nick Roberson that are now coaches at FHS. With cheerleading, the co-captains were Julie Johnson Newton and Gina Saylor Nall.

On a related note, the FHS band will compete in the Dixieland Band Competition in T.R. Miller High School’s football stadium at 4:15PM on Saturday, October 26th. Various parts of the band will be judged based on their performance with an awards ceremony at 9:10PM.

Next week, Flomaton will face off against Southern Choctaw High School in Gilbertown, AL on Thursday, October 31st. If you can make the drive to Southern Choctaw, it would be a great opportunity to see the final game before the playoffs.

This season has been full of wins for Flomaton High School’s football team considering they have won eight out of nine games this season. The first round of playoffs will be hosted at FHS in two weeks. This has shaped up to be a great football season for Flomaton that will hopefully lead us back to the State Championship again this year.
