After the game last Friday, August the 23rd, I sat down with Senior football player, Ja’tavius Franklin to talk about the most exciting and important aspects of the game. Franklin is a 17 year old running back for the Flomaton Hurricanes and has been playing football since he was 8. He is very hardworking and tells you exactly like it is.

The first half of the game was played by the Varsity team and the other half by the JV team. Varsity tied with Opp 7 to 7 in the first half, and the JV lost 14 to 0 in the second half, leaving the final score as 21 (Opp) to 7 (Flomaton). For the Varsity team, Zeb Vickery played as starting quarterback. CJ Spann was starting quarterback for JV. In the first quarter, the Canes stopped Opp’s offense on the 1st yard line for a big time goal yard stance. During the second quarter, Franklin (#4), scored a touchdown for the Canes leaving them with their overall 7 points. Opp also scored on the 4th and 8 on a fade route.

The boys played hard and did their very best but just came up short. Franklin and the rest of the team are hoping and aiming towards a better outcome this Friday night, August the 30th, against the Northview Chiefs.  Franklin also said that the team knows the Chiefs have a high power offense, but that they plan on stopping it. The game this Friday night will be held at home. Kickoff is at 7 o’clock. The student section will be neon themed. Make sure you come out and support our Canes!
