Dalton Kent, an eighth grader, is the starting first baseman for the Flomaton Varsity Baseball Team. In a brief interview I asked Dalton how it felt being one of the youngest players on the team, he said, “I feel honored to be able to start for the varsity team, but a lot of pressure comes from that also.”

As being one of the younger players on the team, Dalton expressed that he looks up to senior Andrew Cash, because Andrew has recently verbally signed to play baseball at the next level for the South Alabama Jaguars. Dalton also went on to say he turns to look for advice from Andrew when it is a close game and in the last innings of the game.

As an eighth grader Dalton has four core classes and three electives just as every other Flomaton High School student. I asked Dalton what his favorite subject was, he said, “My favorite subject is lunch.” After explaining to Dalton that lunch is not a subject, he later changed his answer to weightlifting. As Dalton’s eight grade year comes to a close and freshman year is drawing near, Dalton explain that he is looking forward to being a freshman here at Flomaton High School, because he is one year closer to graduating.

As baseball season continues, everyone here at The Storm will like to wish Dalton and the rest of the baseball team good luck. And GO CANES!
