Every year, students compete in the Flomaton High School Beauty Pageant (also known as the Miss FHS Pageant).

Girls from grades 10th through 12th grade participate in the event in several categories: their interview, talent, poise, beauty, physical fitness, and response to stage questions.

Each girl works hard to practice for the competition and the winner receives a $200 scholarship when they graduate from FHS and upon proof of enrollment to a college of their choice.

The theme for this year’s pageant is “Mamma Mia!” which will involve them wearing a short dress for the opening number and contestant introduction.

The first part of the pageant will be held on November 5th, 2019. This will include the interview, opening number, contestant introduction, and talent portion. The pageant will start at 7PM that night.

The second portion will begin on Thursday, November 7th, 2019 at 7PM. Contestants will participate in the evening gown, poise, and physical fitness portions. Crowning will take place afterwards with the winners of the pageant.

There are a total of 27 participants at the moment. Each contestant must have at least a “C” average with no suspensions or time in alternative school to compete. They have received schedules to practice throughout the month with the other girls on the various routines.

In the physical fitness portion, contestants will wear the pageant t-shirt (designed by the previous Miss FHS), black capri pants, and white tennis shoes.

Each girl will have to acquire their own dresses and outfits for their other performances.

The talent portion is a great opportunity for each contestant to display a specific talent that they hold. Some play an instrument, perform a skit, recite a famous speech, dance, or display many other talents that they possess.

Everyone is invited to come out and support the girls. The admission price will be $5 on both dates and will take place in the FHS Auditorium. The money received from the pageant will go towards funding next year’s Miss FHS pageant. With this many qualified contestants, this pageant will be quite remarkable.
