This Saturday, the Flomaton High School Leo Club and Flomaton’s Lions Club is hosting a 5K Run in honor of Veteran’s Day and all the Veterans who have served in all five branches of the military. The profits from this run are paying for a monument to be put up in front of the Welcome Center to honor each and every Veteran who has served in any of the five branches of the military.

The 5K run takes place at the Community Center in downtown Flomaton. The run starts at 8:00 A.M., but participants need to be there at 7:00 A.M. if planning to register before the run, or participants may register online. At 7:50 A.M., Flomaton High School student Helene Brown will be opening the run by singing. A Dedication of the Veterans Monument will begin at 10:30 A.M. and the monument will be placed in front of the Welcome Center beside the World War 1 Medal of Honor. At 11:30 A.M., a short lunch break with sandwiches provided by the Flomaton High School’s Leo Club will be provided. Veterans can eat for free, but the lunch meal costs $5 for anyone else.  At 12:30 P.M., there will be a Flag Retirement Ceremony, and the festivities will conclude with a Cornhole Tournament for all and any who might be interested.

Thank you to all who have served our country and put their lives on the line for our country.
