The 2019-2020 Miss Hurricane Beauty Pageant began on Tuesday, November 5th, in the auditorium. All of the contestants performed their talent portion on this day. The various talents were singing, dancing, painting, and comedy.

The second half of the competition was held on Thursday, November 7th, with guest speaker Al Bethea, pastor of the Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducting the pageant.

Following after the physical fitness portion, Miss FHS 2018 Ansley Lasala performed the first entertainment performance by twirling to “Dancing Queen” by ABBA. Her performance was followed by Michael Dunn (myself) playing “Next to Me” by Imagine Dragons on the piano.

The 2019-2020 Mr. FHS DaQuan “Money” Johnson was introduced after the entertainment performances. DaQuan is a senior at FHS and has participated in a variety of clubs and sports activities throughout his high school career. He was named the 2018 Football 3A Back of the Year and the 2018 Coastal Player of the Year. His future plans include playing football for Troy University and to study accounting.

Contestants were introduced subsequently with an accompaniment by Kirk Jay playing the piano.

The questioning of the contestants was followed shortly afterwards with each contestant answering a single question with their thoughts on the matter.

The top five winners were announced without their rankings and went backstage to prepare to display their talents again for the audience. Jonah Tillery sang and played the guitar as entertainment while they were busy in preparations.

After getting ready, the top five winners of the talent portion performed while the judges were deliberating over the contestants.

Afterwards, Kirk Jay was scheduled to perform “I Swear” by All-4-One, but had to unexpectedly improvise and extend his performance by a half hour. Multiple contestants joined in with Kirk to sing various songs while waiting for the results.
