A 3-year-old boy named Liam Renihan was diagnosed with epilepsy at 15 months old. As time passed, the seizures became worse, with results of up to 100 seizures a day. The seizures caused him to hit his head, face, and collarbone on the floor. He was on five seizure medications and had seen three neurologists. Liam ended up having a hippocampectomy to remove a part of the brain where the seizures were occurring. After many days following his surgery, Liam began talking and showing affection to his parents for the first time in almost 2 years.
