Aldous Huxley once said, “ Man is unique in organizing the mass murder of his own species.” On the 26th of August 2018, 24-year-old David Katz opened fire at a Madden 19 gaming tournament in Jacksonville, FL. This tournament gathered gamers from all over the world who competed for a top prize of $25,000. During the ordeal, Katz opened fire in the arena, killing 3 people and injuring 11 before turning the gun on himself. The Jacksonville Police Department and the FBI have found no clear motive for the shooting. Mental illness and jealousy are potential motives in the attack on the gamers. Katz’ family has declined to release details, which leaves the motive unknown. Videos have been released of the exact moment the shooter entered the gaming area and began shooting. Out of  the 11 injured gamers, 9 of them were shot or critically injured. Police are continuing to investigate the cause behind this shooting, but in the meantime, our prayers go out to the families of those who were killed.
