Byrd named Conecuh Superintendent

A former Escambia County Alabama principal has been selected as the new superintendent of the Conecuh County School System. Zickeyous Byrd will over-see seven schools in the system. Those schools include a kindergarten through fifth grade and a sixth through eighth grade school in Evergreen; three kindergarten through eighth grade schools in Repton, Castleberry, and Lyeffion; an alternative school in Evergreen and Hi9llcrest High School in Evergreen.

Byrd served as principal of Escambia County Middle School from 2005 to 2010 and served as principal of Escambia County High School 2012 to 2013. After leaving ECHS, Byrd joined the State Department of Education with teacher evaluations and worked with priority schools to gain improvement. Byrd is originally from Mobile and moved from Atmore to Montgomery when he accepted the job in the state department. Byrd will assume the duty of superintendent on March 23, 2015.
